Te Anau

Te Anau township is renowned as the "sightseeing and walking capital of the world", gateway to Fiordland National Park - part of Te Wahipounamu – South West New Zealand World Heritage Area.

Lake Te Anau is the second largest New Zealand lake surrounded by high rugged mountains with three arms resembling sea fjords (and they were truly named fiords). During the summer the hot and dry weather encourages scenic cruising, water skiing, fishing and kayaking on the lake. During the winter, days are crisp and clear with frosty mornings and sunny days, ideal for landscape and nature photography.

Milford Highway

The road to Milford Sound (State Highway 94 info) is considered to be one of the world’s finest alpine drives. Explore rugged mountain ranges, glacier-carved valleys, crystal clear blue lakes, wild rivers and native rainforest. The scenery can be distracting – if you drive take your time, be aware of other road users and if you wish to enjoy the views pull over with plenty of warning.

You might like to experience famous Milford Track. It follows a path originally travelled by the Māori people, who walked over the mountains to Milford Sound to hunt, fish and search for tangiwai. If you have limited time, there are a few one day trip options, please ask us.

Milford Sound

Cruise the idyllic waters of Milford Sound and admire the magnificent scenery that this unique fjord has to offer. Lying at the most northern and accessible end of Fiordland National Park, Milford Sound is reached either by road, air or foot.

Be inspired as mountain peaks soar overhead and waterfalls tumble hundreds of metres into the sea below. Seals are a common sight as they bask on rocks.

On a nice sunny day take a helicopter ride with Milford Helicopters. The Grand is undoubtedly the most diverse helicopter flight New Zealand has to offer.

Are you really into underwater life? Visit the underwater observatory in Harrison Cove and get a different angle on the unique underwater marine life.
